Emma Willis: 'It felt all sorts of wrong' Delivering Babies star addresses new challenge

Emma Willis: Delivering Babies returns to screens tonight and the presenter has addressed the “most challenging” aspect of series two. The small screen favourite’s latest role alongside midwives in Essex brought back “terrifying” memories of welcoming her own daughter into the world. Speaking to OK! Magazine, the 43-year-old said she was “so scared” of hurting the newborns, saying tube-feeding them “felt all sorts of wrong”. She managed to overcome her fear and worries, but was left concerned after they told her to be wary of it going into their lungs.

On the scariest part, Emma recalled: “Spending time in the neonatal part of the hospital [intensive care for babies]. I can now tube-feed babies.”

The Voice UK host continued: “That was such a big challenge for me because my daughter had it a few days after birth and watching someone do it to her was terrifying.

“I was so scared that it was hurting her. So for me to have to do it to another child just felt all sorts of wrong.”

However, she went on: “Then you realise that it’s actually very quick, and the ones that I did never cried, so I figured that surely it can’t hurt that much, and they need the tube to feed.

“My biggest fear was when they said: ‘What you don’t want to do is put it into the lung,’ which sounds horrible!”

Emma, who is married to singer Matt Willis, 36, went on to discuss if the programme has left her feeling broody.

The couple are parents to Isabelle, 10, Ace, seven, and three-year-old Trixie, following their wedding back in 2008.

She added: “Initially it does, just thinking about the smells and how cute the babies are.

“We’ve said three is enough, I’m never going to do this again, but I look at the bubble the new parents are in, which is amazing.”

She also said: “A few weeks later you realise that although the bubble lasts forever, that immediate newborn baby thing is hard work.

“We’ve very lucky to have three good ‘uns and why rock the boat? Let’s just stick with what we’ve got!”

Meanwhile, it comes just hours after she returned from her holiday in Spain with her family.

“And in the blink of an eye, it was over… #ibiza2019,” Emma captioned an Instagram video of all their suitcases piled up in the car.

She had been seen in a bikini and hotpants in another shot, as she got behind the wheel.

Emma quipped: “What you drivin’ Willis? #PimpMyRide #Ibiza. Kaftan and bikini top from @nextofficial #whatyouwearinwillis #emmawilliscollection #ad.”
