Tesco issue urgent food recall warning over serious allergy fears – affected item here

The supermarket chain, Tesco, has had to issue an urgent recall warning after one product did not have the correct information listed on the label. Those who have recently been shopping in the supermarket are being asked to check their cupboards and urgently return the product if they have bought it. The recall has been issued after the packaging of an itsu (grocery) product failed to mention it contained prawns in the ingredient list. This could cause a serious risk for anyone with allergies and people are being asked not to eat the product.

itsu Veg Gyoza

The warning has been issued by itsu (grocery) after the company discovered the potential health risk.

The Food Standards Agency posted: “This product may contain prawns making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to crustaceans.”

The affected product has the pack size of 120g and has the batch code of LH283 and a best before date of 11 December 2019.

Packs with the batch code of LH293 and the best before date of 14 December 2019 are also known to be affected.

Also at risk are any packs with the batch code LH302 and the best before dates of 12 December 2019, 29 January 2020 and 27 February 2020.

Anyone who has bought one of these items is being urged not to eat it and to send a picture of the batch code on the package to itsu (grocery) for a full refund.

Point of sale notices have been issued and should be displayed in store to explain what shoppers can do if they have bought it.

No other itsu (grocery) items are known to be affected and the products at risk are only sold in Tesco stores.

Urgent recall warnings are not often issued, but something which should be taken very seriously to avoid any potential health and safety risks.
