Coronation Street spoilers: Carla Connor takes down Nick Tilsley in factory revenge plot?

Carla (played by Alison King) became the prime suspect of the Underworld factory roof collapse in heartbreaking scenes earlier this year on Coronation Street which claimed the life of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia).

The aftermath led many Weatherfield residents such as Nick (Ben Price), Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) and her own sister, Kate Connor (Faye Brookes), blaming Carla for the tragedy and leading to the Underworld boss spiralling into a state of paranoia.

As Carla’s mental health took a toll, she left the cobbles briefly and on her return, the Underworld boss gave her shares of the business to the workers, leaving them co-owners of the factory alongside Nick.

Although Carla has taken a step back from any intensive work to continue on her road to recovery, she will be presented with a new opportunity on the ITV soap next week which could see her as Nick’s new rival in the fashion trade.

The situation arises when Carla steps in for Roy Cropper (David Neilson) at the café after the soap stalwart suffers an injury, which leaves him lay up and his business in the hands of the former factory owner.

Working behind the counter, Carla is recognised by one of her former business associates Jo Lafoe (Marnie Baxter) who gave the factory some work when Nick first became her partner at Underworld.

Fair to say Jo is shocked to see Carla behind the counter; worlds away from her hot shot role as head of the Underworld empire.

Believing Carla’s talents should be channeled elsewhere, Jo informs Carla about a new online fashion business she has begun online.

With Carla intrigued, Jo offers the past Underworld owner the chance to work for the business, an opportunity which could put her in direct competition with Nick and her former employees.

Viewers will have to wait and see if Carla takes the role, however, if she were to take the position, could she leave Nick standing as she reaches a new level in her career?

If Carla’s success grows as a result of taking the job, could Nick get a touch of the green-eyed monster as he reels at his former business partner leaving him to deal with the factory?

Although he is still currently a co-owner of the business, his sister Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) is currently in the process of trying to oust her brother after he pleaded guilty to stealing £80,000 from their grandmother, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls).

However, as the siblings continue to fight it out to be top dog, the factory will be dealt a crushing blow next week when the insurance from the roof collapse isn’t as such as they’d thought.

The Underworld team discover the insurance company is only willing to pay out £20,000, which isn’t enough to rebuild the factory from the rubble.

Sarah’s ex and secret super villain of the cobbles Gary Windass (Mikey North) steps in to help and introduces Nick to a business associate.

As the conversation flows, the investor states he’s only willing to help if Gary is given the deal to do the construction work on the premises.

After she split from Gary earlier this year, Sarah isn’t too happy and defines the offer, only to be overruled by the work force.

Viewers will have to wait and see if Gary and Sarah can put their past behind them, but actor Mikey North, 32, has assured fans his character won’t be going anywhere are his killer secrets were revealed.

“Our producer Iain MacLeod says this is by no means an exit storyline,” the soap star told RadioTimes.

“There are storylines coming up in the year and beyond that test him further and put him in situations where he must decide whether to kill again.”

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
