Man Utd target Harry Maguire left out of Leicester squad due to 'frame of mind'

It’s the first time Brendan Rodgers has refused to include the defender as part of his plans due to transfer links to Old Trafford.

The pair sat down for further talks on Thursday to discuss Maguire’s future.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Leicester made the decision ahead of the match this Friday with Atalanta due to his frame of mind.

It’s expected that the England international again reiterated his desire to join Manchester United.

Ed Woodward is prepared to pay £80million and make Maguire the most expensive defender in the world.

That’s understood to be the valuation from Leicester, despite the fact they do not want to sell their defensive lynchpin this summer.

Rodgers has said consistently that the club will now allow Maguire to speak with Manchester United until their asking price is matched.

He remained relaxed about the situation with Maguire remaining part of his plans for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Now a defence without the 26-year-old will take to the field against Atalanta in preparation for the season opener with Wolves.

Maguire has told the board of his intentions to leave and he does not want to be priced out of a move.

He also respects the Foxes and their ambitions of trying to break into the top six next year.

United had an offer of £70m turned away by Leicester and there has been no movement since, but discussions remain ongoing.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Woodward to get the deal done as soon as possible so Maguire can join up with his squad.

Leicester are understood to be willing to make do with their current resources if Maguire completes the move.

James Tarkowski and Lewis Dunk have been tipped as potential replacements if the deal is finalised.

Both would cost in the region of £40m.
