Coronation Street spoilers: One character to die in heartbreaking scenes amid shock exit?

One Coronation Street resident will be forced to say goodbye to a loved one in upcoming scenes as they are given some devastating news.

Emma Brooker (played by Alexandra Mardell) will discover her father has stomach cancer and the ITV soap has confirmed his condition is terminal.

In upcoming episodes, Emma will agree to babysit Joseph Brown instead of visiting her dad in hospital, but she has no idea how seriously ill her dad is.

Later she is then asked to look after Liam Connor for Maria (Samia Longchambon) causing her to be late to visit her dad.

However the Coronation Street resident eventually makes it to the hospital to see her dad only to be given the news of his diagnosis.

Emma turns to Maria for support and confesses her mum has refused to return from Australia to visit her dad.

Coronation Street icon Fiona Middleton (Angela Griffin) will be revealed to be Emma’s mum who angers the heartbroken daughter by refusing to visit.

The ITV soap have confirmed Emma’s dad will die and Coronation Street star Alexandra has been filmed crying at his funeral.

Discussing the death, a source told The Sun: “She’s going to be completely devastated by the sudden death of her dad.

“She was the apple of his eye and she worshipped him.

However her dad’s death won’t be the only shocking news Emma’s receives as she soon discovers something that leads her to question her future on the cobbles.

Her dad’s death will cause her to find out the truth that her real father is actually Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson).

“It’s going to be really tough for her. Especially when her mum tells her the heartbreaking news,” the source added.

After finding out the truth about her paternity Emma makes the tough decision to leave the cobbles as she struggles to cope with knowing Steve is in fact her real dad.

But when Steve discovers her plans will he be able to persuade to stay?

Meanwhile Robert Preston’s (Tristan Gemmill) exit may have been revealed as he struggles to keep both the women in his life happy.

The Bistro chef has recently discovered he is to become a father after a fling with Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn) during time apart from Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh).

But Michelle and Robert are now back together and Robert is struggling to keep his double life a secret.

Later this week, Vicky’s ex Jed (Bramwell Donaghey) turns up and asks her to consider moving back to Ireland with him.

Not wanting to lose his child, will Robert leave the cobbles with Vicky to start a new life with the mother of his child?
