Chris Ramsey will be joining Strictly Come Dancing this September as one of the first celebrity contestants. The contestant was announced on BBC One show The One Show this evening (Wednesday, July 31) along with two other celebrity contestants: David James and Emma Barton. Here’s everything we know so far about the new cast member.
Who is Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star Chris Ramsey?
Chris Ramsey was officially confirmed to be appearing on Strictly on The One Show, along with two other contestants.
The 32-year-old funny man revealed that he was “buzzing” to be on the dance competition.
During The One Show, the comedian revealed that his wife was a professional dancer.
He said: “She’s done Cabaret, she’s a professional dancer, she’s done shows.
“We were at a wedding and we nearly let it slip this weekend.”
He told Matt Baker and Stacey Dooley that they were giving it everything they could on the dance floor.
He added: “I don’t want to give anything away but I definitely dropped her.”

He also revealed that he was a huge fan of the show and has even had Strictly viewing parties in the past.
Chris is particularly excited that his family will be able to watch the show as he is used to them not being able to watch his stand-up.
During his appearance he also let it slip that he was so excited to be in the show that he told some of his friends.
He said: “I told three of my mates on a stag do but thankfully they forgot.”

On his official announcement on the show, the contestant said: “I’m both excited and absolutely terrified to be doing the show.
“You will not find me on the dance floor at parties, you will find me at the buffet table. All night.
“At my wedding, I danced with my wife; that one song took about six months of practice, and I definitely stood on her feet a couple of times.
“So I’m looking forward to the possibility of making a fool of myself in front of millions of people… there better be a buffet after the live shows.”

Chris is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian and a regular face on TV, having appeared on The Chris Ramsey Show on Comedy Central UK.
He has also been a guest star on panel shows like Celebrity Juice, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
Most recently the comedian has been on tour with his stand-up show Chris Ramsay Live 2018: The Just Happy To Get Out of the House Tour.
The show is expected to launch in September when all of the celebrities will be paired up with professional dancers.
