Martin Roberts: ‘Horror show’ Homes Under The Hammer star shares behind-the-scenes look

Martin Roberts, 56, has been entraining his followers on social media sites, Instagram and Twitter, with pictures of odd stuff from properties on Homes Under The Hammer.

In his latest image, Martin shared a close-up snap of a huge mouldy patch on a ceiling.

Martin captioned it: “Since you all seemed to love that wonderful bathroom yesterday…

“I thought I’d share with you some really lovely ceiling decoration I came across this week!”

The BBC star added: “Who likes me sharing these horror shows I come across?”

Many of his 11,100 followers loved the look inside people’s properties, especially the rather unsightly snaps.

One person commented: “Me, it makes my house look good.”

Another wrote: “It’s definitely something different!”

A third fan said: “Love the horror ones.”

The day before, Martin had shared a picture of a bathroom which appeared to be in the middle of renovations.

The picture seemingly showed the room half done, as the floorboards had been pulled up, yet there was rubbish everywhere.

He captioned the post: “Nothing wrong with this bathroom at all…”

At the weekend, Martin gave his fans a different look at what goes on when the cameras aren’t filming.

Contrary to Martin’s previous images, the host, who worked alongside Lucy Alexander for 13 years, said he was filming from somewhere “clean”.

“So a bit more Homes Under The Hammer behind the scenes, today is what we call a links day,” he told his followers.

“It is when we film all the links to the shows, the bits in between when we each individually go and see the properties. We always film it at a posh hotel and in this case we’re down somewhere in Berkshire, and very nice it is too. Beautiful views… look at the gardens. Fantastic!”

Martin continued: “And the idea is that in one day we film the links, the linky bits for about 20 programmes. So we’ve done 14 this morning and we’ve just had a lunch break, then we’ll do the remainder of the links.

“We’re all taking a bit of a break. Dion, say hi? Woohoo! There’s the rest of the team. Martel’s upstairs getting changed and yeah…”

He added: “This afternoon’s another six or seven programmes, and they will all be fitted together around the bits where we’re in the houses themselves.

“This is the only time while filming Homes Under The Hammer where you’re actually somewhere clean.”

Homes Under The Hammer airs weekdays on BBC One at 10am.
