At San Diego Comic Con this month, Marvel Studios unveiled their complete MCU Phase 4 slate of movies and Disney Plus TV shows. Surprisingly, covering only 2020 and 2021, official release dates for Phase 5 are yet to be unveiled. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed the studio flirted with revealing the Phase 5 slate release dates for 2022 and beyond but instead decided to simply confirm some of the films that would be involved. These included Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, Blade, Fantastic Four and Mutants (X-Men/Deadpool).
While Marvel held off at Comic Con, MCU Cosmic reckon it’s very likely that some Phase 5 release dates will be unveiled at Disney D23 next month.
The bi-annual D23 Expo in Anaheim, California is a celebration of all things Disney and Marvel Studios will have a presentation supposedly no longer than 20-30 minutes.
The outlet, therefore, reckons the three untitled Phase 5 release dates for 2022 will be confirmed there at least.
They are February 18, May 6 and July 29, so considering the time gap between previous instalments they’re likely to be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2.
Of course, more Disney Plus TV shows could be announced too.
Meanwhile, what the studio is going to do with the newly acquired Fox property Deadpool could be unveiled.
After all, Ryan Reynolds appears to have revealed that Deadpool will be in Phase 5.
Posting on Instagram, the star marked the fifth anniversary of the leaked Deadpool footage that helped greenlight the original movie.
Reynolds wrote: “Investigation heading into year 5. Or as I call it, ‘Phase 5.’ The point is, I love conspiracy-yarn. #LeakAversary.”
Surely, this is a big hint that Deadpool will be arriving in the MCU in 2022 or 2023?
Of course, this might not be in the form of a movie but a rumoured team up with Spider-Man, just like in the comics, or maybe the Merc with a Mouth will get his own Disney Plus show?
D23 takes place August 23-25, 2019.
