The Juventus star was spotted at the Emirates at the weekend as Arsenal lost 2-1 to Lyon.
The midfielder still has a year left of his contract in Turin, but Arsenal boss Unai Emery is keen to strengthen his squad.
And respected Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri has tweeted that Khedira is “close” to joining Arsenal.
That’s despite Emery playing down speculation that the German will join the Premier League giants.
“Khedira is a very good player but this is the first time I have heard his name mentioned,” Emery said after Arsenal were beaten by Lyon on Sunday.
