Game of Thrones: Sansa Stark’s fate sealed by Ned Stark in season 1?

Game of Thrones has used direwolves as a subtle way of pointing the Stark children in the right direction.

While characters such as Robb Stark (played by Richard Madden) were killed shortly before his own direwolf was, Sansa Stark’s (Sophie Turner) pet was killed early on.

Although some viewers thought this meant an early death for the princess, quite the contrary happened: She survived until the end.

However it was what happened to Lady – Sansa’s direwolf – after she died – which seems to have laid the groundwork for the rest of Sansa’s story.

As viewers will know Sansa survived the onslaught of attacks in season eight, and left her, ultimately, as the Queen of the North in Winterfell.

Viewers of the show have often theorised the direwolves’ fates have predicted the end of the Stark children’s stories, but Reddit-user Teenagegumshoe has other ideas.

They wrote: “The fate of the direwolf and their Stark kid is not necessarily connected.

“Grey Wind was killed right after Robb’s own death, not before.”

And, with this in mind, the fan went on to add: “I would also point out that while Lady dies, her bones are buried at Winterfell.”

In season one Sansa’s direwolf Lady was killed by Ned Stark (Sean Bean) after some drama with Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson).

Following that, Sansa had a tough life in the HBO hit, but it looked like it always got a bit worse once she left Winterfell for periods of time.

When she returned home in the later seasons her luck began to change – she escaped from Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), and finally became the Queen of the North.

Does this then mean the final resting place of Lady somehow influenced the last-seen moments of Sansa’s life?

Meanwhile fans have also been theorising about alternate endings for the show after eight seasons.

One theory suggested The Night King (Vladimir Furdik) would have destroyed King’s Landing.

This would have also coincided with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) giving birth to Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) child.

Unfortunately, this was to be the last thing she did, as the theory saw her die in childbirth, leaving Jon to deal with her body.

The user’s theory continued: “They would go to the lands of always winter to forge Lightbringer.

“Dany dies in childbirth, and Jon gets Lightbringer by burning her corpse with magic.”

They concluded: “Then [Jon] defeats the Night King. Also, he becomes king with his kid.”
