Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas: Newlyweds suffer tragic heartbreak after ‘freak accident’

Sophie Turner, 23, and Joe Jonas, 29, welcomed their second dog Waldo Picasso to their family in April 2018, but now the couple are facing an unimaginable tragedy with their beloved pet. Earlier this week, their dog Waldo was struck and killed by a car in New York City, according to TMZ. At the time of the incident on Wednesday, the Alaskan Klee Kai dog was being walked on the lower east side of Manhattan by their dog walker, according to the publication. Though Waldo was on a leash, their pet pooch is said to have broken free after becoming spooked by a pedestrian and ran out into the street.

An oncoming car then tragically hit the dog in what Sophie’s rep called a “freak accident”, TMZ reports.

The Game of Thrones actress and the Jonas brother musician reported the incident to the New York Police Department yesterday.

According to the same publication, the couple took two days to report the tragedy to the police as they were too distraught at the time.

Express.co.uk has contacted Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ representatives for comment.

The newlyweds also share a second Alaskan Klee Kai dog Porky Basquiat, who is the brother of Waldo.

The dog duo also have their own respective Instagrams, with Porky’s account bringing in over 145,000 followers while Waldo had a whopping 45,200 followers.

Taking to Instagram, the Game of Thrones star shared a snap of the two pups together in view of her 15 million followers.

She captioned the post: “Welcome to the family @waldopicassojonas.”

Fans have since flocked to Sophie’s page to share their condolences for the loss of her pet.

One person said: “So sorry for your loss.”

Another person commented: “So sorry to hear of your loss. Our fur babies mean the world to us.”

While a third person added: “I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. Rest in Peace Waldo.”

In November in 2018, Joe posed in a photoshoot with his pet dogs for People’s Sexist Man Alive.

The singer chatted about the perks his dogs receive as they travel the world with him and Sophie.

Speaking about the Alaskan pups, he gushed: “They have a pretty fabulous life.

“They have probably travelled more than my friends.”
