Piers Morgan health update: GMB star reveals key to fitness and weight loss efforts

Piers Morgan, 54, looks to have turned over a new fitness leaf on his summer holiday. The Good Morning Britain star is currently soaking up the sunshine in Los Angeles, California, amid his break from the ITV show. Having previously showed his commitment to getting in shape by giving his 6.7 million Twitter followers an insight into his workouts, the broadcaster has now revealed he is being given a helping hand by a “hardcore” personal trainer. Taking to Instagram, he uploaded a picture of a man’s bulging bicep which was tattooed with the phrase: “Hard things are hard.”

“My LA personal trainer puts the hard into hardcore,” Piers captioned the upload, which he shared with his 654,000 followers.

His fans took to the comments section to commend him for his efforts to lose weight and improve his fitness, with one applauding: “[Love] that you’re looking after yourself.”

Earlier this week, the GMB favourite uploaded a picture of a state-of-the-art Peloton exercise bike.

He accompanied the image with a motivational quote from former professional bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, 71.

“‘There is no magic pill’ – Arnold Schwarzenegger,” he wrote.

Again, fans were supportive, with one commenting: “Oh my, are we going to see a new Piers return to our telly?!”

“Go Piers!” another exclaimed, while a third added: “Can’t wait to see the result in September.”

Piers famous pals Myleene Klass, 41, Jamie Redknapp, 46, and Dave Horsey, 34, all showed their support by liking or commenting on the post.

The GMB star looks to be leading a very active lifestyle whilst in the US, sharing a snap of his sunny pool yesterday.

He joked he needed a dip to “cool down from all this Boris excitement” after Boris Johnson, 55, was made the new Prime Minister.

Piers and his GMB co-host Susanna Reid, 48, are taking time away from the cameras to relax and unwind over the summer holiday.

The duo will be back on screens in September.

Meanwhile, Susanna Reid’s weight loss also turned heads earlier this year.

The presenter revealed she lost one-and-a-half stone after being advised to slim down by a doctor, who informed her she was at the upper end of her BMI.

“I went to the doctor with a skin problem and he told me I could do with losing some weight,” she told Prima Magazine.

“It turned out I was at the upper end of my BMI and, I have to admit, I’d been feeling a little heavy for a while.”

In addition to cutting snacking from her diet, Susanna said she had ditched alcohol.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
