Jeffrey Epstein 'attempts suicide in Manhattan jail as inmates tell of chilling screams'

Epstein is a disgraced former financer who is serving time for alleged sex crimes.  The registered sex offender was at the centre of a medical emergency in the Metropolitan Correctional Centre. One source told RadarOnline it was an attempted suicide.

The source said staff at the prison were seen running through the corridors at 1.30am EST on July 23.

Screams were reportedly heard by other inmates.

According to the report, a witness said the 66-year-old was “blue in the face” and “sprawled out on the floor”.

Epstein reportedly lost consciousness and was unresponsive at the time.

Sources have told News 4 that Epstein may have tried to hang himself.

A third said his injuries are not serious.

Inmates have been questioned as an assault hasn’t been ruled out.

The reports come as Epstein is currently being held in prison ahead of his trial.

He previously pled guilty to soliciting prostitution from a child in 2008 and is due to face charges over allegedly running a child sex ring.
