Google Maps: Cameras capture horrifying road accident on Street View – what happened?

Google Maps cameras witnessed a horror road incident in the peak of rush hour traffic. The Street View team headed out in Chile, capturing images and tracking the streets of the country for the Google Maps website. The images they take are posted straight online to help travellers plan their routes, and give users an idea of the geography and layout of the area. Yet when logging onto the website and honing in on this particular part of the world, they would have witnessed a cyclist falling off his bike in dramatic fashion.

The man in question had headed for a summer ride, dressed in shorts and a T-Shirt.

He was tracking a black vehicle on a busy road, in what looked to be prime travelling time.

Yet with no other obstacle present, it seems he simply hit a bump in the road and came off.

He was seen clattering off his bike into the middle of a three lane street, in shock images captured by the Google Maps camera team.

Thankfully, he was wearing his helmet, when his head hit the floor.

Yet further danger was posed by the vehicles in the outer lanes.

They could well have veered into the next lane, causing him further injury.

It is not known what the outcome of the accident was.

It is unclear also whether the male cyclist was severely hurt.

Meanwhile, in somewhat of a unhappy trend of events, the Google Maps team was witness to another sporting mishap, this time in the French Alps.

Perhaps eager for images of the competitors in a ski challenge, they followed one male into a ski hut.

Yet it was while they were tracking him from behind, they caught him – still wearing his skis – trip up over the step and fall flat on his face.

He was seen in the next shot lying motionless, with his body flat on the ground.

His arms were spread out wide with is hands still clutching his ski poles.

It is unclear how badly injured he was, or how long it took for him to get up.

His identity is also unknown, as the Google Maps cameras offered no further updates.
