Jeremy Clarkson: Grand Tour host fumes at doctors 'nonsense' advice as he makes complaint

Jeremy Clarkson, 59, took to the micro-blogging site after he refuted doctors’ claims that antihistamines taken by hayfever sufferers are “non-drowsy”. In view of his 7.17 million followers, he wrote: “Doctors: can we drop the nonsense? There’s no such thing as a ‘non-drowsy’ anti-histamine.” The Grand Tour presenter later tweeted it was due to his hayfever and taking antihistamines for the condition which was the cause of him failing his O-Level, now called A-Level, exams. In a follow-up post, he penned: “I failed all my O and A levels because of hay fever and the anti-histamines I took to combat it. Also I did no revision.”

Fans of the former Top Gear host flocked to comment on his tweets, with many agreeing with the presenter.

One person said: “I disagree with you on many things, but not this. Hayfever sucks, especially for kids taking exams.”

Another person commented: “Anti-histamines are great as long as your only goal in life is to be asleep in 30 minutes.”

While a third person added: “People who don’t suffer the misery each year have no idea how lucky they are.”

Others appeared less forgiving with the television star, as a social media user said: “Weird, I have to take anti-histamines & I don’t get drowsy, must be an age thing.”(sic)

While another tweeted: “Haha, true! But the newer versions are ‘less drowsy’”.

Antihistamines are medicines often used to relieve symptoms of allergies, such as hayfever and hives.

The newer, non-drowsy tablets are less likely to make you feel sleepy, according to the NHS.

Meanwhile, the father-of-three recently took to Instagram to send birthday wishes to his eldest daughter, Emily Clarkson, 25.

The TV star shared a snap of Emily as she posed with a beverage in her hand.

In view of his 2.3 million followers, he captioned the post: “Birthday girl. Very proud Dad.”

Jeremy shares three children with his former wife Frances Cain – Emily, Katya and their brother Finlo.

The former couple separated in 2014.

Frances was his second wife, his first being Alexandra James who he was briefly married to in 1989.

The Grand Tour presenter has been dating his current girlfriend Lisa Hogan, 46, for the past two years.

The loved-up couple recently put on a cosy display when they attended a 10CC concert at the Royal Albert Hall, earlier this year.
