Hand luggage: TUI Airways’ package and flight baggage allowance revealed – is it the same?

TUI Airways enjoyed its busiest weekend of the summer season this weekend as the great summer holiday getaway began. Travel agents association ABTA estimated four million Britons booked on flights and jet overseas as the summer holidays began. Some plump for holidays on a flight-only basis while others prefer the comfort of knowing everything is sorted on a package break. Yet for both types of vacation, TUI has the same 10kg baggage allowance in the cabin.

For package breaks, the airline states: “You can take one piece of hand luggage per person (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg and with maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm on a TUI Airways flight.

“Things like laptops, handbags and items bought at the airport must fit within your one piece of hand luggage.

“You must be able to lift your hand luggage into the overhead storage compartments yourself.

“You can bring a Trunki case as hand luggage, as long as it weighs no more than 10kg.”

This no separate handbag stipulation mirrors that of budget airline, easyJet.

Yet BA offer a little more scope as they allow these items to be transported separately.

TUI recently told how two million customers will fly with the airline over the entire summer holiday period.

Its latest survey stated how English Breakfast Tea is the most popular drink across all of TUI Airways’ 22 UK bases.

When it comes to food, TUI Airways stated the humble Ham and Cheese Toastie is everyone’s favourite meal.

Snack-wise, a box of Sour Cream and Chive Pringles topped the list.

With these items available to buy on board, it could help customers save valuable cabin baggage space for their holiday garments.

Dawn Wilson, Managing Director at TUI Airways, said: “We’re really excited to welcome customers on board to jet off on their summer holidays.

“We have over 300 new cabin crew taking to the skies this summer across our UK bases ready to provide exceptional customer service and ensure that our customers’ holidays start the moment they step on board.

“It’s important for us to know what our customers enjoy once on board and it was quite enlightening to learn that it’s a good old-fashioned cup of tea that leads the way!

“For those who are still deciding where to holiday and in need of a little inspiration, our great new online tool will help them to see where customers are booking their holidays, giving plenty of ideas for a last minute summer break.”
