Seth Rollins explains why WWE is hated with MLB and NFL comparison before RAW Reunion

WWE has been the most popular wrestling company in the world since 2001 when main rival WCW went out of business and was acquired by McMahon who then turned his promotion into a global empire.

However, the wrestling giants have been receiving criticism on social media over booking decisions, storylines and matches that didn’t sit well with some fans who have also started to compare the company to newly-formed promotion AEW, which is now an alternative product to watch.

Rollins claims this new online phenomenon has made it “cool” to hate WWE just like it is to criticise the Yankees and the Patriots who are a dynasty in the MLB and NFL respectively.

The Beastslayer has been a strong defender of the company ever since WrestleMania 35 where he won the Universal Championship but insists he isn’t bothered by all that negativity.

The three-time world champion, though, believes the critics need to learn to appreciate the performers’ hard work to deliver the best they can almost every day of the year.

Rollins told Yahoo! Sports: “We’re the New York Yankees.

“It’s easy to hate the New England Patriots.

“We’re those teams, we’re the dynasty.

“It’s easy to hate us, but we’re still the most popular company in the world at what we do.

“We’re so far beyond being a wrestling company that it’s very easy to point the finger and hate on us.

“That’s the cool thing to do, it makes perfect sense to me, it’s how it’s always been in sports and entertainment, you always hate the big guy.

“It’s fine, I’m not upset about it at all.

“I just want people to understand and appreciate the things we go through and the fact that we’re always trying to do our best.

“Nobody is taking it easy, nobody is just getting by.

“Everybody from top to bottom, every department in the entire company is putting in as much work as they possibly can to make this the best.”

Rollins is scheduled to appear tonight on RAW Reunion with a number of WWE legends at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
