Tottenham kick off their pre-season tour of Asia today with a tough game against a new-look Juventus.
The Italian champions have been busy in the transfer window so far, having signed Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Christian Romero and Matthijs de Ligt.
Spurs, on the other hand, smashed their transfer record to buy midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and also signed Leeds youngster Jack Clarke, before returning him to Elland Road on loan.
Ndombele is expected to make his debut today, as Pochettino looks to integrate the Frenchman into his starting 11.
After suffering an injury towards the end of the season, Harry Kane is set to start today after his disappointing performance in the Champions League final.
Spurs are likely to play Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back after Kieran Trippier left the club this week.
Trippier departed Tottenham for Atletico Madrid after four years in north London, and is set to be replaced by 22-year-old Walker-Peters.
Midfielder Christian Eriksen, who has been widely tipped to leave the club this summer, could be in line to face Juventus today despite speculation over his future.
The Dane is out of contract next summer, and it had been suggested that he could be sold by Spurs this summer to avoid them losing him on a free.
But Pochettino explained that he could play today, while discussing why the star trained on his own after returning to the training.
“To be honest it’s difficult for me to talk about the comments of the player. I wasn’t there and I don’t know. To be honest, during my holidays I didn’t want to listen and see the media,” he said.
“Christian is here because he expects to play, maybe Sunday against Juventus or against Manchester United.
“He had small, minor surgery after the final, similar to Ben Davies, and that is why today rather than training with the group, rather training alone and trying to avoid the risk and see if he’s available to play on Sunday.
“That is the explanation of why today he was alone. We gave the option to stay in London but he wanted to come because the medical staff they decided that he can be available to play maybe so he is here.
“It was his decision with the club and medical staff.’
