Liverpool team news: Predicted 4-3-3 line-up vs Sevilla – Robertson to start but Salah out

Klopp has welcomed Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson back to his Liverpool squad after the pair were given extended rest this summer.

The German is unlikely to give the pair a start in their first game back, though they will feature at some point in Boston.

Mohamed Salah is still on holiday after playing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt this summer while Roberto Firmino and Alisson were away with Brazil.

It means Klopp will potentially give the likes of Ryan Kent and Harry Wilson more minutes in pre-season.

The Reds suffered a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in their first match in the States with Wilson and Rhian Brewster netting for Klopp’s side.

And Klopp knows just how important these pre-season clashes are.

“It was a very important session for us,” he said after the loss to Dortmund.

“We need this highest intensity to go over the point and still stay focused and concentrated.

“For a few of the boys it’s so early in pre-season and then playing Borussia Dortmund is a proper challenge.

“A few of the young kids, the boys see that it’s not always dreamland and other teams have good footballers as well, so it’s difficult.

“Now we have to carry on. Within 48 hours we play Sevilla in Boston and that will not be a friendly game as well.

“We wanted hard challenges, that’s why we chose these teams as opponents and so now we have to fight.”
