The Red Devils beat their Serie A opponents but the scoreline could have been a lot greater in a game they dominated.

Substitute Mason Greenwood emphatically finished to make it 1-0 in the 76th minute.

And the striker was one of three players who stood out for Solskjaer’s side.

Express Sport takes you through each and every player that featured for Manchester United at the National Stadium in Singapore.

Man Utd player ratings

David De Gea – 6

The first appearance in pre-season for the Spaniard but had little to do in a game in which Manchester United had most of the possession and chances.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8 – Man of the Match

Looked in control and confident from the start. An early crunching tackle was cheered as if a goal had been scored and it was the first of many. Looked good in attack and unbeatable in defence.

Victor Lindelof – 7

Cool, composed and looks like a senior member of the squad. A possible partnership with Harry Maguire should have fans excited. Went off after 56 minutes with a thigh problem which United will hope is not serious.

Axel Tuanzebe – 6

An opportunity to impress which he didn’t really take. Looked a little nervous on the ball but having said that didn’t do anything wrong either.

Luke Shaw – 7

Outshone by Wan-Bissaka on the opposite flank but offered plenty himself going forwards and linked up with Anthony Martial well.

Nemanja Matic – 6

One pace to everything he did which wasn’t a problem in this game but you feel the energy of Scott McTominay would cause more problems for opposition players.

Paul Pogba – 7

Involved in most good things United did, looked good on the ball as he always did and made some impressive driving runs from midfield. End product sometimes left a lot to be desired though.

Daniel James – 6

The new recruit reminds me so much of Cristiano Ronaldo when he first joined the club. He’s a raw talent that is incredibly frustrating when he does something sloppy but the potential is clear to be seen. If he becomes half the player Ronaldo is he’ll be a success at Old Trafford. Missed some key chances.

Jesse Lingard – 6

Like Matic he struggles to get out of one gear. James, Martial and Pogba all looked more impressive and more dangerous but the England international definitely has a place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

Anthony Martial – 7

Looked very lively and one of the most likely players to open the scoring for the Red Devils. Good signs ahead of the new campaign.

Marcus Rashford – 7

It is going to take time for Marcus Rashford to become the out and out striker he is capable of being. In some of his play you can see he has been a winger in recent seasons. Having said that he did look a constant threat.

Substitutes:

Phil Jones (56 mins) – 6

Came on for Lindelof after a thigh complaint. With United attacking throughout didn’t have much to do.

Sergio Romero (62 mins) – 6

Hardly touched the ball after replacing David De Gea.

Diogo Dalot (62 mins) – 6

Much of the play was on the left so he didn’t have much to do but what he did he did well.

Matteo Darmian (62 mins) – 6

Similar to Dalot, didn’t really get involved in the play for the Red Devils.

Eric Bailly (62 mins) – 6

Did nothing wrong but the ball was played in Inter’s half when he came on.

Ashley Young (62 mins) – 6

Had a lot of the ball after coming on but struggled to do anything of note with it. His experience is key you feel but he may find himself on the bench more often than not this season.

Fred (62 mins) – 7

Composed and assured on the ball. A few nice pieces of skill and looked like he could create a chance whenever the ball was at his feet.

Scott McTominay (62 mins) – 6

Solid and sprayed the ball around well. Almost certain to be first-choice for Solskjaer for the upcoming campaign.

Andreas Pereira (62 mins) – 6

Make or break season for the midfielder who did little to shout about after being introduced.

Juan Mata (62 mins) – 6

Calm and assured and always looks a threat with the ball at his feet. His lack of pace is still a worry though.

Tahith Chong (62 mins) – 8

Made a definite impact when he came on off the bench. Should have been awarded a penalty and provided a sumptuous cross for Mason Greenwood who hit the bar.

Mason Greenwood (62 mins) – 7

Scored the opener with a fine left-footed curling effort as the ball rebounded from an Ashley Young free-kick. At just 17 he looks like he has unlimited potential to proved big excitement for United this season.
