Riyad Mahrez wife: Who is the Algeria star married to? Do they have children?

Riyad Mahrez has been one of the stars of the Africa Cup of Nations for Algeria.

The 28-year-old scored the winner in the semi-final against Nigeria with a stunning free-kick deep into stoppage time to book Algeria’s place in the final.

His form follows on from an impressive season with Manchester City, in which he helped Pep Guardiola’s side win the Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Mahrez is often supported at his matches by his wife Rita Johal – but what do we know about her?

Who is Riyad Mahrez’s wife?

Rita Johal was born in Gravesend, Kent.

She works as a model but prefers to stay away from the spotlight.

Mahrez proposed to her after dating for just five months.

The couple got married in August 2015 at a private ceremony.

They welcomed their first daughter, Inanya, later that year.

Mahrez and his wife also have a second daughter, thought to be born in late 2016, but whose name is not known.

Speaking to The Sun in 2018, Rita said: “Our lifestyle is pretty lavish as everyone wants the best and to have luxury things.

“We all want that good life and luxury lifestyle because what’s everyone working hard for at the end of the day. But while it’s nice to have it’s not what makes you happy.

“Riyad is a really grounded and humble guy and I hope it won’t change us. I love Asda as it’s so convenient and you can get some nice pyjamas in there.

“I do my own grocery shopping but it’s starting to become a problem.

“If Riyad’s holding shopping bags he gets people coming up to him so we might have to start sending someone for us soon.”
