Claudia Winkleman: Strictly host opens up on bizarre family move amid husband admission

Strictly Come Dancing judge Claudia Winkleman, 47, said she was brought up in a house with no mirrors and has inherited her mother Eve Pollard’s idea.

Spilling all, the mother-of-three said: “My mum raised me in a home without mirrors.

“She’s a staunch feminist and wanted us to know that what we look like is the least interesting thing about us.

“I’m passing that idea on to my children and we don’t have mirrors at home either.

“I grew up not worrying about my looks. I’m confident without make-up on and I only wear it for work.”

The presenter went on to say her husband Kris Thykier, 47, thinks she’s “insane” for not taking her make-up off for bed.

She joked the reason for keeping her make-up on throughout the night is to “look cooler” in her dreams.

Claudia Winkleman went on to joke she finds leaving make-up marks on her pillow “erotic”.

Tess Daly’s sidekick is known for her love for heavy make-up, which regularly consists of smoky eyeshadow and dark eyeliner.

The host joked she favours her favourite make-up item over basic groceries such as bread.

“There might be no bread, we might be out of milk, but there’s always eyeliner,” she added to OK! Magazine.

Elsewhere, Claudia and Tess Daly, 50, met their matches at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool earlier this month.

The Strictly presenters appeared to be impressed with their waxworks as they copied their duplicate’s facial expressions.

Claudia’s waxwork was seen in a figure-hugging black dress and also channeled her famous heavy make-up and full fringe.

Tess’ duplicate looked just like the presenter with her blonde hair in bouncy waves while sporting a red dress.

Claudia shared a picture of her with her arm around her waxwork in view of her 430,000 Instagram followers this month.

She wrote: “I know. @MTBlackpool #StrictlyBlackpool.”

Many of her fans flocked to her page to comment, with one writing: “Yes but is your twin funny?”

“Insane and wonderful all at once,” a second added.
