NBA 2019/20 schedule release date: When will the opening night fixtures be announced?

Next year is set to be one of the most competitive NBA seasons in recent memory following a flurry of major moves in the offseason.

Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler, DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis, Paul George and Russell Westbrook are just a number of All-Star players who have changed teams in the past few weeks.

Anticipation is building now for the season to get underway.

Although that is still roughly three months away, fans will soon be able to pencil in dates in their calendar for the opening night match-ups and regular season fixtures.

When will the 2019/20 NBA schedule be announced?

The NBA have notoriously kept when they will drop the season schedule a secret.

It’s a strange approach given fans will want to know when to look out for the fixtures to be released.

There once again has been no official word on when that will happen this summer, but looking back on past years it could happen very soon.

In the past five years, the NBA have released the opening night schedule in the second week of August.

Last season’s schedule was released on August 10, while the year before was dropped on August 14.

There has been no regular pattern to exactly what day of the week the NBA would tend to announce the schedule either.

Given that this year’s NBA season will reportedly start a week later to give players competing in the FIBA World Cup extra rest, the schedule could also potentially be held back.

Stay tuned here on Express Sport for the very moment the NBA fixtures are released.
