Arsenal began their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids.

But the Gunners will face a much sterner test when they go up against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the Dignity Health Sports Park.

Unai Emery has the vast majority of his Arsenal squad available to him but club captain Laurent Koscielny’s future remains in doubt after deciding not to travel with the team to the United States.

Asked for an update on Koscielny, Emery said: “I spoke yesterday about that.

“Now this matter is for the club and him. Before he travelled I spoke with him three times.

“He wanted to speak with the club, his first idea was to leave from the team.

“When I spoke with him I wanted him to come with us and to continue speaking with the club about the best possibility for him. He decided to stay in London.”

The clash with Bayern Munich kicks off the in the early hours of Thursday morning in the UK at 4am.
