Tommy Fury: Love Island 2019 star says boxing career is 'over' amid embarrassing scenes

Love Island 2019 bosses had the contestants take part in a hilariously embarrassing challenge during tonight’s episode. All the boys has to dress up as dogs, with masks, furry shorts and paw gloves, before tackling a doggy assault course. Tommy Fury, 20, and his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague were paired up, with the latter acting as his “trainer”, guiding the blindfolded boxer, who is the younger brother of Tyson Fury, 30, through the course as he attempted to find treats and pass them to her with his mouth.

However, it seemed the challenge was a step too far for Tommy’s pride.

Speaking in the Beach Hut later – still in costume – he joked about his career when he leaves the villa.

“Babe, that was awful,” Molly-Mae chided.

“It’s just when you’ve got a lot of pressure on you…” he argued, before she interjected: “As a boxer though, you should deal well with pressure.”

“Let me tell you about boxing,” he exclaimed, joking: “My career is over.

“You will never see me in a boxing ring again. Please look!” he added, gesturing with his paws to his bizarre outfit.

Before joining Love Island 2019, Tommy was best known for being the younger brother of heavyweight legend Tyson.

Prior to entering the villa, he spoke out about living in the famous boxer’s shadow, saying: “I’m my own man and I’ve said it throughout my whole boxing career.

“I don’t want to be labelled as his little brother, I’m my own man and I’m doing the best that I can do in life and that’s all I’m setting out to achieve,” he added.

Elsewhere, Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae Hague are odds on to win Love Island 2019.

Yesterday, bookmakers Coral revealed the couple are still the big favourites to take home the £50,000 prize money.

Tommy and Molly-Mae are at 1-6 to win the show, with a spokesperson telling Express.co.uk: “We’re hurtling towards the home straight of Love Island 2019 and we think it is Tommy and Molly’s to lose.

“They are 1-6 in our book to be crowned winners and the huge favourites to go all the way.”

Meanwhile, Anton Danyluk, 24, and his love interest Belle Hassan, 21, are way off at 16-1 to win.

“Anton and Belle’s hopes of landing the £50,000 look all but over and it is now Ovie [Soko, 28] and Amber [Gill, 21] that have the next best chance of causing an upset,” the spokesperson said.

Love Island 2019 continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2.
