UPDATE ONE: Bethesda has confirmed that today’s maintenance on Fallout 76 servers will begin at 3pm, BST on PS4, Xbox One and PC, and will be followed by a new update to download.
“We’re planning to bring Fallout 76 offline across all platforms around 10:00 a.m. EDT on July 16, to perform maintenance and apply updates,” the latest message from Bethesda explains.
“During this time, you will be unable to log into or play Fallout 76, and we’ll keep you updated in this thread to let you know as soon as you’re able to jump back into Appalachia.”
ORIGINAL: The next major Fallout 76 update is being released this week, Bethesda has confirmed.
And it will mean taking servers offline for extended maintenance on all major platforms. We don’t know the exact timing for this new downtime period but last week’s maintenance began around 3pm in the UK.
So something similar could be planned for the launch of the Fallout 76 Patch 11 on July 16. Bethesda will release their plans later today, so we will make sure to update this article with the latest information.
“We’re on schedule to release Patch 11 this Tuesday, July 16, and along with it, the full list of patch notes that will be released during maintenance,” a message from Bethesda explains.
“We’ll be interested to know your thoughts on this patch and hope you continue to let us know what you’d like to see us address in future updates.”
The good news is that we already know the main items being added to the game through the next Fallout 76 update.
Bethesda shared early patch notes in June, revealing plans to improve the UI, as well as other areas of gameplay.
The dev team is making changes to item descriptions to make them easier to read, as well as tweaking how long certain food and materials last.
Bethesda has also confirmed plans to make it easier for new players to leave the Vault and have a more balanced experience, with Bethesda adding: “Characters under level 25 will pay fewer caps when fast travelling, those under level 15 will have higher disease resistance, and we’re replacing a number of early-game Challenge rewards with items and other supplies that will give these Dwellers a better chance at survival.
“We’re also looking to reduce creature difficulty in a few sub-regions within the Ash Heap, the Savage Divide, and Toxic Valley so that Dwellers who are stepping out of the Forest for the first time have fewer encounters with higher-level enemies.
“We’ll have more details to share in the full patch notes, but these are a few of the larger changes we’re planning to make to help new characters better adapt to life in the Wasteland.”
Other features being worked on for Patch 11 include improvements to the Power Armour system and the addition of Bulk Junk Auto Scrapping options.
“In addition to fixing a number of bugs affecting Power Armor, we’re implementing a couple of quality of life improvements,” Bethesda adds.
“For example, after Patch 11, you’ll be able to activate Stealth Boys while wearing Power Armor. We’re also adding a new “Enable Power Armor HUD” option to the Display settings that will allow you to decide whether you’d like to view the Power Armor HUD or standard HUD while using Power Armor.”
Full patch notes will be shared tomorrow, during the time when Bethesda is updating fallout 76.
The dev team has also revealed that a new event is being planned for closer to the end of the month, which will involve gathering supplies for Grahm, the Supermutant.
“At the end of this month, you can expect a new Seasonal Event that will bring Dwellers around Appalachia together to beat the summer heat with everyone’s favourite travelling Supermutant and his best pal, Chally the moo-moo. And no, Chally’s not on the menu.
“To throw a great party, Grahm’s going to need a little help from his human friends, and he’s hoping lots of you will make an appearance and lend a hand. Of course, you’ll be handsomely rewarded if his shindig is successful. Look out for more details, including the event’s start date, a little later this month.”
