More evidence has been uncovered to suggest that Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online will be launching on PC, following its successful release on PS4 and Xbox One.
A steady stream of updates have been appearing following the game hitting shelves back in 2018, supporting the idea of an eventual launch on PC.
And this week saw another little clue fall into place for those wanting to see Red Dead 2 announced for Steam or the Epic Games Store.
Data miners have been sifting through the game’s companion app and found details suggesting DX12 support is coming to PC.
When asked whether these new files and settings might have been leftover from GTA 5, the original poster revealed:
“Those files were made with a new format that is not available in GTA V, R* has a new UI subsystem in RDR2 and the files were specifically made for this new system.”
This seems to suggest that these new settings would be used on the PC version of the game, although Rockstar Games has not announced any such support.
Another poster adds: “Also, there’s a bunch of differences, some settings became sliders, all settings have Ultra presets now, and there is an option for DX12 in there too.
“There’s still a few GFX sets missing from previous findings, but that’s def new.”
This is just the latest piece of evidence to support Red Dead Redemption 2 launching on PC in the future.
We’ve even had a new update from parent company Take-Two Interactive, with CEO Straus Zelnick telling shareholders there was no downside to a PC port during a 2019 Q&A.
This is far from an actual announcement, and we currently don’t even have a rough schedule on when such a project could be unveiled.
Rockstar Games don’t traditionally wait around for the big gaming expos to share their news, meaning they could start dropping clues at any time.
No evidence has popped up to suggest that Red Dead Redemption 2 is nearing development completion on PC.
Last week saw fans discover Rockstar Social Club site code referencing the game on PC.
The Social Club website includes coding for RDR2_PC_Accomplishments, which seems like an odd thing to have if you weren’t planning a launch.
There is, of course, an explanation for something like this being found on the website and it may not mean a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC launch is coming soon.
But it certainly stacks up with other coding finds to suggest an RDR2 is being worked on.
The next big update for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been scheduled for Summer 2019 but has yet to materialise.
It will add new content to Red Dead Online, including new career paths and missions to enjoy on PS4 and Xbox One.
Rockstar technically has until September to release this new Red Dead Online expansion; however, fans will be hoping to see it in the coming weeks, or by the end of August at the latest.
