Games with Gold free Xbox games warning: Microsoft making changes for July 2019

Microsoft is getting ready to refresh the Xbox Games with Gold lineup for July 2019.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will be able to download a fresh batch of free games from July 16.

The new games include Big Crown Showdown for Xbox One and Meet the Robinsons for Xbox 360.

Meet the Robinsons will also be playable on Xbox One thanks to Backwards Compatibility support.

But be warned, the games refresh means that Xbox One and Xbox 360 users have less than 24 hours to download some of the existing Games with Gold releases.

Cartoonish fighting game Rivals of Aether will no longer be available from July 16, and the same goes for Xbox 360 title Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

On the plus side, critically-acclaimed platformer Inside will remain on the service until the end of the month.

Big Crown Showdown is a four-person multiplayer game with a one button combat system that’s described as an “accessible and enjoyable experience for players of all ages and skill levels”.

“Big Crown: Showdown sees friends become foes as they compete for the crown in 4-player local and online multiplayer combat, set over 3 wacky worlds full of medieval shenanigans,” reads the official description.

“Avoid perilous hazards and engage in frantic fights as you attempt to knock your opponents off 15 crazy courses in the ultimate royal battle!”

One of the game’s more unique features is a camera that moves along a track in a constant motion.

Like an auto-scroll level in Super Mario Bros, this means you’ll have to react to obstacles as they appear.

“The game blends chaotic combat with sections of tricky platforming, challenging players to move fast and react quickly,” the post continues. “Every track has a number of deadly obstacles for players to avoid!”

Meet the Robinsons, on the other hand, is a 3D platforming game inspired by the popular Disney movie.

“Help Wilbur Robinson save the future by travelling to the past and putting things back in order,” reads the game description.

Meet the Robinsons has received mixed reviews since launch, as critics praise its overall level design, but lament the lack of polish.
