Eamonn Holmes: 'Back in business' This Morning star addresses wife Ruth Langsford's return

Eamonn Holmes, 59, revealed his excitement about having his “partner back in business” with him on This Morning today.

Ruth Langsford, 59, has been absent from the ITV show for the past three weeks after her sister, Julia, died.

She will be resuming her duties today, stepping in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who are now on their summer break.

Eamonn announced he and Ruth will be replacing them for the next seven weeks, as he shared a picture of him and his spouse on Instagram.

“My partner is back in business,” Eamonn wrote.

“Please join us for This Morning on @itv from 10.30 …. for the next 7 , yes I said SEVEN, Weeks.”

The TV favourite added: “Summer is here!”

Many of Eamonn’s 510,000 followers commented on his post with messages of support for Ruth.

One fan wrote: “It’ll be hard, but we’re all behind you both. Have a great first show back together you two.

“Welcome back Ruth hope you’re doing ok thoughts are with you,” another said.

A third added: “Glad to hear Ruth is back. She’s been missed x.”

Ruth announced the heartbreaking news about her sister’s death by penning a tribute to her on Instagram in June.

The Loose Women panelist captioned the post: “My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness.

“My heart is completely broken. She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever.”

She said: “As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family. Thank you for your understanding.”

Rylan Clark-Neal had been presenting beside Eamonn whilst Ruth was absent from the show.

During his first show without his wife after the news, Eamonn revealed Rylan had been a great support to them both.

“Rylan was the first person I phoned when we heard this news and you are a great support to Ruth in all of this,” Eamonn remarked.

The former Sky News presenter also said Rylan had been a “great counsellor” to Ruth and had been making her laugh.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10.30am.
