Louise Minchin's ITV ambitions revealed in resurfaced interview after Susanna Reid move

Louise Minchin, 50, who hosts BBC Breakfast with Dan Walker, 42, previously opened up about her ambitions to make a big move to ITV. Speaking to The Independent in 2009, before she got the regular hosting job on BBC Breakfast, the star was asked about why a role on This Morning would be her “dream job”. Discussing the ITV daytime programme, Louise admitted: “I like the fact that it’s about looking at the people behind a news story. “Often these people are never spoken to.”

Louise also opened up about the reason behind her transition from radio to TV to the publication.

She explained: “Radio was my first love, and that’s where I started, on Radio Five Live. I love the incredible freedom and immediacy.

“I went to television after eight years of radio broadcasting. It’s more pressure, but I like the adrenaline of the red light.”

This recently unearthed revelation comes after the presenter’s former BBC colleague Susanna Reid, 48, decided to part ways with the broadcasting company when she accepted a job on Good Morning Britain in 2014.

At this time, Louise was selected as one of the presenters who would cover for Susanna, alongside Naga Munchetty, 44, and Sally Nugent, 47.

Louise became a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast alongside Bill Turnbull, 63, and Charlie Stayt, 57, in December 2011.

Elsewhere, the Louise Minchin spoke out after a Twitter user accused her of being “rude” towards her fellow anchor Dan Walker.

The pair have worked together on the show for three years, but one viewer took issue with how Louise appeared to “turn her back” on the BBC Sport presenter.

They wrote on the micro-blogging site: “@louiseminchin love watching you and @mrdanwalker on @BBCBreakfast but why do you always seem to be turning your back on him? Looks rude.”

Fortunately, the journalist was quick to clear up the misunderstanding in view of her 158,000 followers.

She wrote back: “I am getting ready for what is next.”

Louise recently shared a funny selfie with Dan as they prepared for the show.

Dan appeared to pull a moody face for the photo, while Louise smiled with glee.

She captioned the snap: “Good morning, smile @mrdanwalker! #BBCBreakfast we are awake and ready to get the news to you…”

Fans took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the dynamic duo’s selfie.

One wrote: “You can tell who the morning person is.”

Another added: “Well you look awake, I don’t know about Dan. Lol.”(sic)

BBC Breakfast airs tomorrow on BBC One at 6am.

Louise Minchin will be on The Chase tonight at 5:30pm.
