Debbie McGee: 'I understand why they're hooked' Star in British Grand Prix revelation

Debbie McGee, 60, addressed the British Grand Prix 2019 on her BBC Radio Berkshire show and shared a surprising insight into the race. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant gushed about the “exciting” competition, which took place at Silverstone today. Opening up about the race’s atmosphere, Debbie said: “To me, one of the most exciting things about watching Formula 1 is hearing the roar of those cars. “And anyone who’s ever been to motor racing, you don’t need to create an atmosphere or anything. It’s just there on a plate for you.”

The star then revealed she experienced the thrill of the Silverstone Circuit herself, as she added: “I have been round Silverstone at 180 miles an hour and I can tell you there is no other feeling.

“And I understand why all these racing drivers get so hooked because it is just incredible.”

Speaking about why she loves the race, the magician’s assistant continued: “I love it when they go into the pit and change whatever they need to change that’s broken on the car in like two minutes.”

Debbie went on to recall a moment she attended the famous Grand Prix circuit with her late husband Paul Daniels.

She explained: “I’ve had experience of that because many years ago on the Paul Daniels Magic Show we did an outside broadcast from Silverstone.

“We did a big trick that Jackie Stewart was involved in and he took Paul around the race course.

“The clutch burnt out on this car he was driving and his guys came and changed the clutch in 20 minutes.”

Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix this afternoon for a record sixth time.

The victory marks the racing driver’s seventh from 10 rounds, bringing him closer to a sixth world title.

Elsewhere, Debbie McGee opened up about younger men finding her attractive.

The star recently appeared alongside Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, 26, on Kirstie’s Craft Masters with Kirstie Allsopp, 47.

She opened up about their partnership In a recent interview with TV Times.

Debbie admitted: “Being paired with Sam Thompson for the crafting challenges was so much fun,

“We hit it off immediately. He’s like an excitable puppy that’s been fed jumping beans!”

She added: “His energy and go-getting spirit was wonderful. I love working with younger people and always have a giggle.”

The TV personality then cheekily revealed: “Younger guys seem to enjoy flirting with me even though most of the time I’m older than their mothers.”

“So how lucky am I? That’s great!”
