Piers Morgan: ‘Arrogant piece of work’ GMB host BLASTS Megan Rapinoe after viral video

Piers Morgan, 54, shared a video of Megan Rapinoe 34, signing a ball for a fan in a seven-second clip at the ESPYS Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The football star was approached by a fan as she sat in front row alongside her partner Sue Bird. As she signed the ball, she appeared distracted by something in the crowd behind her. After writing her signature, she then handed the ball back to the young fan but didn’t look at him.

ABC shared the clip with their 612,000 Twitter followers with the caption: “Can we get a signed ball, too @mPinoe?! #ESPYS.”

Piers also shared the video in view of his 6.71 million followers with the caption: “Wow. Doesn’t even look at him.. such an arrogant piece of work.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Megan Rapinoea for comment.

Piers’ comment prompted many of his social media fans to comment, including presenter Jake Humphrey, 40.

He wrote: “I don’t like this clip, but I still feel that the way the US team have been criticised after their WC win is over the top.

“And reveals deeper issues in society. People still seem to have an issue with women displaying genuine self-belief and self-confidence.”

Piers responded: “I don’t have any problem with that. In fact I wrote a column praising them for it.

“But they’ve also shown a lot of horribly unedifying gloating arrogance that we would dislike just as much in men.”

Another user penned: “This is a 7 second video Piers.

“Imagine someone judging you on a 7 second interaction with someone, it doesn’t make sense does it?”

Megan is the co-captain of the US women’s football team who won victory at the Women’s World Cup last month.

Piers previously hit out at the player, claiming she loved herself.

Ahead of America’s win against England, he tweeted: “Ms Rapinoe sure does love herself.

“Can’t wait to see our Lionesses dent that stupendous ego.”

America beat England 2-1, with Alex Morgan’s goal celebration causing controversy.

The goal scorer was criticised for doing a “tea-sipping” celebration, with many insisting it was a swipe at England’s loss.

Alex hit back at her tea-sipping gesture, insisting it “wasn’t a hit to England”.

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, 23, shared her thoughts on the controversy surrounding Alex Morgan during her honeymoon with Joe Jonas, 29.
