Sophie Countess of Wessex's a BOLD statement this week at Wimbledon – what did she do?

Sophie, Countess of Wessex, like many royals, attended Wimbledon this week.

The wife of Prince Edward was seen at the event without her husband.

Wimbledon is a huge national event and royals tend to exploit their privilege to sit in the best seats in the house – the Royal Box.

Sophie arrived at the event looking stunning in a blue ensemble.

Sophie Countess of Wessex wore a patterned blue summer dress.

The gown was a Peter Pilotto number. The Peter Pilotto Cloqué dress cost in the region of £880.

She wore her blonde hair in a bun with delicate diamond earrings, with her feet in white Mary-Jane shows.

Additionally, on her left wrist she wore the Cartier Ballon Blue watch with a silver bracelet strap and blue face.

But another of Sophie’s accessories caught the eye.

She carried a clutch bag with an inspirational message.

The light blue bag read: “I’m not saying I am Wonder Woman. I’m just saying that no one has ever seen me and Wonder Woman in the same place.”

A number of royals turned out for the famous tennis games.

Zara Tindall was at Wimbledon with her husband rugby pro Mike.

They were pictured at with Formula One star Nico Rosberg and his wife Vivian Sibold.

It came after Meghan Markle’s Wimbledon appearance drew criticism after she asked members of the public not to take pictures of her.

the Duchess was criticised for the move, and one critic said the row could put the monarch at risk.

Speaking to Express.co.uk on the matter Graham Smith, CEO of anti-monarchy campaign group, Republic, revealed one key point.

He said: “It’s not going to help their public image, they are essentially celebrities. Celebrities need exposure and they need to treat their fans well.”
