Lucy Alexander Instagram: Homes Under The Hammer star shares daughter's exciting news

Yesterday, Lucy Alexander, 48, shared her pride in daughter Kitty, who was left paralysed after a virus attacked her spinal cord nine years ago. The former Homes Under The Hammer favourite shared the exciting news her daughter had been nominated for Spinal Injuries charity’s Young Person of the Year Award. She made the announcement by uploading a picture of Kitty gracing the cover of the latest issue of Enable Magazine, which showed the youngster smiling for the camera as she posed casually in her wheelchair. “Such an incredible day with @spinal_injuries #rebuildinglives2019 & Kitty being put up for ‘Young Person of the Year Award’,” Lucy wrote to her 38,000 Instagram followers.

“Meeting wonderful people who are living with spinal cord injury, be it falling out of a tree, illness, car crash or sporting injury.

“Such an inspirational day with HRH Princess Anne giving a wonderful uplifting speech about really living life,” she added.

“So amazing to see Kitty my daughter on the cover of this months @enablemagazine discussing living with paralysis,” the ex-Homes Under The Hammer presenter concluded.

Sharing a snap of the cover on her Instagram story, Lucy called herself a “proud mama”.

Kitty was paralysed after suffering from a rare neurological disorder called transverse myelitis which caused her immune system to attack her spinal cord.

The TV star previously opened up on the day Kitty was paralysed, telling Hello! Magazine she arrived at the school to see her daughter “sobbing in pain”.

“She said, ‘Mummy I’m scared,’” she said. “She told me that it felt as if someone had dropped a big metal anchor on her back.

“At one point we didn’t know if she would even survive, but fortunately she was in the right place — under the care of the NHS.”

Back in February, Lucy shared an emotional message about Kitty as she marked the anniversary of the day her daughter was paralysed.

“This date will be forever etched on my mind,” she told her 25,000 Twitter followers.

“My daughter nine yeas ago became instantly paralysed at school from a virus that attacked her spinal cord.

“What a journey it’s been,” she continued. “As her mum I’m just so proud of the amazing woman she has become. Kitty [love] you so much.”

Meanwhile, Lucy is best known for hosting Homes Under the Hammer.

She fronted the long-running BBC property programme for 13 years before departing in 2016.

Elsewhere, Homes Under the The Hammer star Martin Roberts addressed Lucy Alexander’s “dirty tricks” in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
