Mewtwo Pokemon Go COUNTDOWN: Armoured Mewtwo challenge start times July 10

If you were looking for your next big Pokemon Go challenge, then the release of the Armoured Mewtwo in five-star raids should do the trick.

Making its debut this week, the souped-up psychic could prove very tricky to take down, even with your best squad of friends.

The countdown is almost over for the return of Mewtwo, which will be arriving today, July 10.

The disappointing news for fans in the UK is that Armoured Mewtwos will be popping pretty late in the day.

Niantic in a new post confirmed that Mewtwo will start arriving at 9pm, BST, meaning you probably won’t get the chance to battle today.

The good news is that the Armoured variant will be sticking around for most of the month, giving you ample time for a run-in.

Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids from July 10 at 1:00 p.m. PDT to July 31 at 1 p.m. PDT.

That’s less than a month to try and capture the special Mewtwo, but it should be enough for those dedicated to the cause.

“Mewtwo returns…with a new look. For a limited time, you can encounter this Psychic-type Pokémon in five-star raids,” a message from Niantic explains.

“Do you consider yourself a Mewtwo Trainer? Show off your prowess for power and aesthetics with some stylish new items coming to the Style Shop!

“Don’t miss this chance to encounter Armored Mewtwo. Are you up for the challenge?”

It’s unclear at this time if the new Mewtwo battle will differ much to the ones found during the EX Raids period.

It’s assumed that Armoured Mewtwo is just a variant and will be different just from a cosmetic viewpoint.

Fans are hoping that this new one will be as powerful as the previous Mewtwo featured in the game, even if they weren’t part of the Tier-5 Raid system.

It follows news of further changes being made to the PvP Pokemon Go battling system by Niantic.

So if you’re planning to catch a Mewtwo to use in Trainer Battles, it might be worth reading some of the tweaks being made by Niantic.

“In our previous Community Note, we outlined some changes that came to Pokémon GO that In a continued effort to make Trainer Battles a fun and competitive experience, switching Pokémon will now briefly pause the battle,” Niantic explains in a new post.

“This will grant you more time to choose which Pokémon to call out, and it will avoid Pokémon causing damage to each other while they are withdrawn into their Poké Balls.

“Charged Attack gameplay will also be updated with new, fun swiping and tapping mechanics.”

Pokemon Go is available to download and play for free on compatible Android and iOS devices.
