Amazon Prime Day UK deals: PCs, games, components

With only a few days to go until Amazon Prime Day PC deals begin for 2019, it’s a good time to start prepping your wallet for the savings that are coming our way. Running between July 15-16 2019, it’s the perfect opportunity to upgrade your rig, pick up a game or two, or grab that sweet gaming mouse you’ve had your eye on while prices are low. Anything is fair game for a reduction; Amazon also discounts laptops, peripherals, and more across its 48-hour Prime Day run so there are plenty of chances to land yourself a bargain. As a result, we’d advise you to start looking for what you want now, add it to your cart, and wait until Prime Day arrives to see how much money has been knocked off. That way you can make the most of the offer before it expires or is sold out. It’s worth keeping an eye out for any killer impulse purchases that pop up on the day, too—there are sure to be a lot, not to mention a fresh load of discounts added on day two of Amazon Prime Day itself (July 16, in this case).

Gaming hits from 2019 and 2018 are sure to be on offer, and that’s besides hot accessories such as the best gaming keyboard or the best gaming mouse to complete your setup. Basically, bookmark this page and check in regularly from now on. Wondering why you should care before the Amazon Prime Day PC deals officially begin? Well, it isn’t just a 48-hour period anymore. Although there are plenty of savings to be made during the event itself (starting at midnight Pacific Time or 3am ET, by the way), the reductions actually kick off long before then.

To save you time, we’ll be keeping an eye on everything PC-related and posting the biggest bargains below—a bit like your own guardian angel, only we’re into Amazon Prime Day PC deals rather than keeping you on the straight and narrow. Amazon Prime Day PC deals – when do they start in 2019?

The official start date for the Amazon Prime Day deals is July 15 at 12am, which is a Monday. Ouch, you need to sat an alarm clock to get those bargains. The sale event runs until midnight on Tuesday July 16, so you get 48 hours of deals for the UK. During that time, the deals are always split into two different categories: Prime Day Deals and Lightning Deals.

Regular Prime Day Deals will last for the full 48 hours (or until the item has completely sold out of stock, which does happen pretty frequently). While they’re easier to get, the best Prime Day Deals sell out, so if you see something you really, really want it’s best to just buy it right at the start of the event. Don’t forget that you can always send the item back if you change your mind.

Lightning Deals are timed offers that begin and end at certain times. So, you’ll have about 2-3 hours to buy something at a specific price before it returns to normal, or before stock runs out completely. These are the ones you need to watch out for, and can offer amazing value, but stock is always limited for Lightning Deals. You can watch for specific Lightning Deals, as you get about four hours warning before each one starts. Here’s what the Lightning Deals page looks like. These will run throughout Prime Day.

Amazon Prime Day PC deals – Is Prime Day just Amazon?

No, actually. While Amazon Prime Day is the name of the event itself, most other online retailers like to take advantage of the fact people are looking to spend money on tech. That’s why you see retailers like Argos, Currys, AO and loads more having their own sales—all great news if you’re looking to buy something PC related, as you just get a bunch more sites to choose from. We’ll be keeping an eye on all online retailers with sales around Prime Day, and calling out the best PC gaming deals wherever we find them.

And while Prime Day is a 48 hour sale, some other retailers are likely to offer savings all week, and maybe even beforehand, so you’ll have loads of opportunities to pick up a bargain. We’ve already seen the likes of AO and Currys trying to spoil Amazon’s party by having big summer sales, so you never know where you’re going to find the next big deal or what will be on offer.

Amazon Prime Day PC deals – what deals are available right now?

While we don’t currently have masses of PC gaming deals on Amazon, there are a few worth looking at right now. Obviously, during Amazon Prime Day 2019, we’ll see 100s of deals on the site, so you’ll have more choice. What’s below represents deals we’d recommend looking at right now, because they may only be matched (not bettered) during Prime Day 2019.

We’re expecting big savings on the likes of SSDs, monitors, peripherals, and a few choice laptops during the Amazon Prime Day PC deals event. Components are a little trickier, as they’re subject to market forces, but you’ll likely find RAM and hard drives discounted, with a few key savings on GPUs.

Best GPU deals

You won’t get very far without the best graphics cards; they’re a linchpin that make modern games the eye-catching beauties they are. Even though there are a staggering number of GPUs around (to say nothing of rival brands, variants, and the capacity for 1080p or 4K) there are some on offer now, even before Amazon’s event starts.

Best monitor deals

It’s no good having a technical masterpiece of a rig if you’ve not got a good screen to play it on, so we’d advise looking out for the best gaming monitors while Amazon Prime Day PC deals are here. No matter whether you’re after a 4K monster, a model built for speedy frame-rates, or something more humble, we’ve got you covered, and these are the best deals going for Prime Day kicks in properly.

Best SSD deals

If you haven’t upgraded to the best SSD for gaming yet, we can’t recommend doing so enough. These nifty little devices speed up boot and load times greatly, resulting in a far more pleasant (and less frustrating) experience for gamers no matter what you play. The most tempting SSD pre-Prime Day bargains are waiting for you below.

Another of our top picks from the gear available on Amazon right now, this saving is both generous and this SSD is tremendous. Great value and a great deal.

Best laptop deals

When the Amazon Prime Day PC deals begin, this is where you’ll find the best laptop offers. It’s a good time to invest; the best gaming laptops are usually a bit pricey, so Prime Day discounts make them much more affordable. Just remember to move fast. These reductions don’t always last long, and that’s to say nothing of them going out of stock. Here’s a few that have caught our eye already that are offering decent deals before Prime Day begins in earnest next week.

Best pre-built PC deals

Want to dive into PC gaming without the hassle of building your own rig? No problem—the best gaming PCs come ready-made and prepared. This saves you the fuss of figuring out which components you need, gets you a machine built by pros, and it also means you can upgrade later as and when you see fit. We’ve listed the current top offers for these pre-built machines here (there’s not many..yet).

Amazon Prime Day PC deals – Do I need a Prime subscription?

To take advantage of Prime Day you have to be a Prime member. But if you’re not, you can still take advantage of the deals by signing up for a free 30-day trial. You won’t need to pay the £79/year fee and you’ll still get the deals. On some deals though, the discount you get will pay for the Prime membership itself, so you might want to take a wait-and-see approach.

Prime gives you free delivery on all Amazon goods while you hold the membership, and you get access to Prime Video, which is nice. It isn’t Netflix nice, but it’s just fine. Black Sails is on there, which is badass.

Amazon Prime Day PC sales – what else will be on sale?

If you’re looking to buy non-PC related stuff during the Amazon Prime Day deals in 2019, then you’ll be able to save big in a few key areas. 4K TVs always go on sale, and you’ll find big savings on the latest panels. Especially if you’ve been waiting to invest in an expensive OLED or QLED screen, Prime Day will be the best chance to buy this side of Black Friday.

Amazon always sells its own products super cheap too, so anything with Alexa in it will see savings. The Echo Dot, Fire stick, and Kindle Fire tablets will all get big reductions, and the likes of the Echo Show and smart plugs. You’ll also see big reductions on consoles and console games, so if you do own a PS4, Switch, or Xbox One then you’ll be able to pick up a bargain or two for that.

Then there are cables, subscription services like Xbox Game Pass, Blu-rays and DVDs, books and basically everything you need to keep you entertained for the next few months.
