Three Mobile challenged as Vodafone reveals new ultimate data deals

Three Mobile is renowned for its SIM only plans that come with unlimited data and are incredibly affordable.

The network offers two tariffs with infinite amounts of internet – the first is a 12-month advanced plan that also comes with unlimited minutes, texts and costs £22 per month.

No upfront fee is required here, meaning over the two-year period customers will pay £264 for endless amounts of data.

The second plan offered by Three lasts for 24-months and also comes with unlimited internet, minutes and texts.

Three is currently discounting this particular SIM, pricing it at £11 for the first six months followed by 18 payments of £22.

In total, this advanced plan costs £462.

While the SIM only offers listed by Three are incredibly appealing, they have just been challenged by new plans from Vodafone.

In addition to flicking on the switch of its 5G network at an event in London last week, Vodafone also revealed a new set of unlimited data plans that vary in price and speed.

While each is still more expensive than Three’s offering, the major advantage of Vodafone’s offers comes from the fact they support 5G network speeds.

This means if you have a 5G phone or are planning to upgrade to one soon, you will be able to use Vodafone’s new 12-month SIMs to harness rapid internet.

If you do not have a 5G phone, these contracts will support 4G speeds, too.

The new 12-month plans come in three forms: Unlimited Lite, Unlimited and Unlimited Max.

Unlimited Lite costs £23 per month and promises a maximum download speed of 2Mbps that Vodafone claims is optimised for “browsing, catching up on social media and streaming music”.

The standard Unlimited plan offers a maximum download speed of 10Mbps and costs £26 per month.

Vodafone has stated this SIM is better suited to people that want to stream video on the go in addition to the use cases laid out for Unlimited Lite.

As the name suggests, Unlimited Max allows for the fastest download speeds possible and costs £30 per month.

Vodafone has declared this should be best for HD video streaming and hotspotting, too.

Unfortunately, the new Unlimited tariffs have not launched yet but should arrive later this year.

They will also be available with contracts that include a phone but will last 24-months in this instance, instead of 12.
