Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner, 23, is currently on her honeymoon after celebrating her marriage to Joe Jonas, 29, at a second wedding ceremony at the weekend. But her break away didn’t stop the actress from sharing her thoughts about American footballer Alex Morgan’s tea-sipping goal celebration. The 30-year-old footballer was accused of taking a swipe at Phil Neville’s Lionesses by pretending to sip tea after scoring in the Women’s World Cup 2019 semi-final against England on Tuesday. Addressing the controversy, Sophie said in view of her 14.6 million followers: “Okay, I am on my honeymoon…I am not really looking at my phone as much but I feel like this deserves a mention.
“Unfortunately the UK’s women’s football team lost at the World Cup and of course I’m incredibly sad but incredibly proud of that team.
“But, I am so honoured we lost to such an incredible football team… the US women’s football team.
“Alex Morgan… all those haters that are saying this is disrespectful, I’m honoured that you thought of me and all those people that are hating at you, are probably millennials at home drinking Kombucha.
“I am really f*****g proud of you Alex Morgan congratulations on your win.”
Alex did the tea-sipping gesture after scoring America’s second goal against England, which put them through to the final.
The goal scorer has since hit back at claims she was mocking England, insisting her tea-sipping gesture “wasn’t a hit to England”.
According to the BBC, she said: “I’m a little taken aback, you have to laugh about it.
She added: “I feel that there is some sort of double standards for females in sports to feel like we have to be humble in our success.
“We have to celebrate but not too much, we have to do something, but it always has to be in a limited fashion.”
Elsewhere, Sophie and Joe tied the knot at their second wedding ceremony in the south of France at the weekend.
The pair exchanged vows in front of family and friends including Sophie’s Game Of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams, 23.
A source told E! News the ceremony’s ceiling was covered in white elegant flowers and glass candles.
The insider added: “Sophie was drinking champagne with her girlfriends and brunch was also delivered.
“Joe had a few shots with his groomsmen to ease the nerves.”
Back in May, Sophie and Joe married at a surprise wedding ceremony in Las Vegas.
In a spontaneous moment after the Billboard Music Awards, the newlyweds married in front of an Elvis Presley impersonator.
DJ Diplo, 40, shared various clips of the evening on Instagram, one in which showed Sophie walking up the aisle to meet her then husband-to-be.
