Midsommar streaming: Can you stream Midsommar online? Is it legal?

Midsommar is now playig in cinemas to the delight of horror fans. The sophomore horror film from Ari Aster has seen positive reviews, with many commenting on the thematic links between Midsommar and Aster’s previous film, Hereditary. Yet there are plenty of horror fans who would prefer to watch a movie from the comfort of their own home.

Can you stream Midsommar online?

No, the horror film is still playing in cinemas and not available online.

Any website claiming to have Midsommar is illegal, so steer clear.

No release date for the DVD and digital download has been announced as of writing.

For now you’ll have to head to the cinema to see Midsommar, which given its 80 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, is worth it.

The plot of Midsommar is a relationship drama first, a horror movie second.

This is similar to Aster’s previous movie, Hereditary, which is a family drama first and then evolves into a horror film.

The plot of Midsommar follows Christian and Dani, a young American couple having trouble with their relationship.

The synopsis continues: “After Dani suffers from a severe personal tragedy, the couple decides to go on a vacation to rural Sweden with their friends, Mark and Josh, to visit a small village that is hosting a festival held once every 90 years.

“Unbeknownst to them, the festivities include violent and disturbing rituals, and the locals insist that they join in.

“What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.”

Though the film is undoubtedly worth watching, it is also worth watching at the cinema.

Besides which, streaming online illegally is now punishable with jail time.

If you engage in illegal streaming, you can be jailed according to the Digital Economy Act.

The Act means those illegally streaming copyrighted content could face ten-year prison sentences.

The law is mostly meant to target those making money off of illegal streaming sites.

However, for those who use apps like Kodi to pirate licensed content, jailtime could be a penalty.

Midsommar is now playing in cinemas.
