Galaxy Watch and Gear S3 could be eclipsed next month as Samsung set to reveal new devices

Samsung has confirmed that its next big Unpacked event will take place in just a few weeks time.

The Korean firm posted a message on its website revealing the news and teasing fans with an image of what appears to be a Galaxy Note stylus and camera lens.

This almost certainly means a new smartphone is coming soon but that might not be the only gadget that fans get a glimpse of soon.

Rumours are rife that Samsung is planning to launch new wearables which could supersede the Galaxy Watch and Gear S3 with one leak even suggesting a codename is being used for these devices.

SamMobile reported last week that the new tech timepiece is currently being called “Renaissance”.

Now it seems Samsung could be one step closer to revealing all with an email sent out to media confirming next month event stating:” On August 7, 2019, Samsung Electronics will unveil new devices designed to take the Galaxy ecosystem’s connectivity to the next level.

“The reveal will take place at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event in New York.”

Eagled-eyed fans may have noticed the word ‘devices’ which could indicate that it’s more than just a phone that’s on its way in August.

There’s currently not much known about the new “Renaissance” but you can be certain of a boost the internals of this device bringing more power, extra battery life and brighter display.

It’s likely that Samsung will bring upgrades to the design and improvements to the fitness features.

One final rumour is that Samsung might bring a Digital Bezel to their next watch which would replace the current physical wheel found on some of the firm’s devices.

To back this up, a trademark was recently spotted which suggests this upgrade could be coming soon.

Launching a new Galaxy Watch-style device in August would make sense as it would mean Samsung could have its device in stores long before Apple reveals any updates.

The US technology firm looks almost certain to hold its usual keynote in September where it could unveil its latest iPhone 11 and Apple Watch.

There’s no official word on when a launch will take place but Apple always holds its main event at that time of year and there’s nothing to say that 2019 will be any different.

One thing we do know is that Apple will release its new watchOS 6 operating system in the autumn which will add bonus features including the ability to use the watch to monitor noise.

In watchOS 6, users will get access to a new Noise app which checks background sound levels via a real-time decibel meter.

Other extra includes new apps such as a calculator, improved health monitoring and there’s also some new faces in this operating system.
