EE vs Vodafone – Why one of these networks has a major advantage

EE debuted its 5G technology back in May and was the first UK network to do so.

The provider initially launched 5G in London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Birmingham and Manchester but has promised it will rapidly expand supported areas.

EE plans to roll out 5G to Bristol, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, Hull, Leeds, Newcastle and Glasgow in the future.

Meanwhile, Vodafone launched its 5G service yesterday, June 3, at an event in London.

To begin with, the new network is available in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and London.

However, Vodafone has promised it will deliver 5G to Birkenhead, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Guildford, Newbury, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Warrington and Wolverhampton before the end of the year.

While Vodafone and EE are both offering a futuristic 5G service for customers, it appears the latter has a major advantage over the former.

That is because EE is selling four phones that are capable of supporting 5G while Vodafone is limited to just two.

EE is selling the Galaxy S10 5G, OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, OPPO Reno 5G and LG V50 ThinQ with its new 5G plans.

In contrast, Vodafone is only allowing customers to choose between the Galaxy S10 5G and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G.

While both selections from Vodafone are great smartphones in their own right, it is undeniable that EE simply offers more choice.

The OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, that is currently only available through EE, comes with one of the best displays around, delivers rapid performance and runs the firm’s slick OxygenOS skin over Google’s Android 9 Pie operating system.

The Chinese handset boasts a huge 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display that has the resolution of 1440×3120 and the density of 515-pixels-per-inch.

However, it is not the phone’s incredibly high resolution that makes its display special – instead it is the 90Hz refresh rate on offer that makes using the hardware feel much smoother than most other products on the market.

Vodafone customers are also missing out on the OPPO Reno 5G that is the first 5G smartphone to boast an industry-leading zoom.

OPPO Reno 5G comes with a triple camera system on its rear comprised of a 48-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle and a 13-megapixel telephoto that harnesses a periscope style structure to deliver a 5-times optical zoom.

Moreover, this sensor also combines with the phone’s primary module to deliver a 10-times hybrid zoom.

Finally, the Reno 5G is also capable of taking photos with a whopping 60-times digital zoom.

In addition to a laudably diverse camera system, the Reno 5G also comes with a gorgeous 6.6-inch display that is surrounded by minute bezels.

The phone is able to achieve its futuristic aesthetic thanks to its employment of a pop-up camera system similar to what is present on the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.

To be expected, OPPO’s latest and greatest also touts impressive specs; the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset and has 8GB of RAM.

5G plans for both EE and Vodafone are available to view on each network’s respective website.
