Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp DOWN: Storing issues and social media problems update

In the latest update shared by Facebook, it was confirmed that Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are all facing the same photo glitch.

This includes not being able to store data properly across all three social media apps.

Sharing the latest news on Twitter, which has had its own problems today, the Facebook account revealed: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps.

“We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

And as you might expect, this includes social media apps for Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

So far, there has been no update regarding how long this outage could last for.

The WhatsApp social media page for Twitter has not referenced today’s issues, although more news has been shared via the official Instagram account.

The latest message reads: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images and videos on Instagram.

“We’re sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

There has been no explanation on what has caused tonight’s issues or how long they might last.

The good news is that while core data cannot be uploaded tonight to any of these apps, basic login and account settings are still active.

So this means that tonight’s issues are not connected to the servers being DDOS’D or attacked externally.

Something that users are noticing is how Facebook tags certain images with the use of what appears to be AI-generated captions.

These have been appearing on user images and can be seen through an error image when the picture doesn’t load properly.

They appear to be basic descriptions generated to include information on how many people can be seen and with what objects are included.

They start with the phrase: “Image may contain” and then go on to state information like – “One or more people, eating, people sitting, drinks, outdoor and food”.

These captions aren’t the usual images people see when using their Facebook accounts and will probably disappear when the current outage ends.

For now, social media users will have to patient and hopefully find out exactly when they can log back in and use their accounts normally.

For users in the UK, this could mean waiting until tomorrow, July 4, which just so happens to be a massive Federal Holiday in the United States.

Facebook will no doubt be eager to have these problems solved before it begins in earnest and people want to share pictures and videos of firework displays and other celebrations.
