Arsenal ace Mesut Ozil sends emotional message to fans amid transfer speculation

Ozil was often left out by manager Unai Emery last season with Arsenal finishing fifth in the Premier League.

The German was often dropped for games against teams in the top six with a variety of reasons given for his lack of involvement.

Ozil earns £350,000 per week but many fans believe he has failed to justify those wages.

It’s understood Emery is keen to sell the midfielder as he looks to boost his transfer budget.

Fenerbahce and Manchester United have been linked with Ozil in the recent past.

But now the 30-year-old has revealed what he enjoys about being at the Emirates.

Ozil told Adidas in a video which continued the launch of Arsenal’s new kit: “I’ve played for so many clubs already who all have their own fanbase but what I appreciate about Arsenal, and I’ve been in the business for many years, first of all is the song they created about me which I’m very proud of.

“Every time I hear it in the stadium or on the bus on the way to the stadium I get goosebumps.

“I’m extremely proud of our fans as they are one of a kind.”

Ozil scored just five goals and made two assists in the Premier League last season.

And former Arsenal winger Jimmy Carter believes Arsenal should cash in.

“If he was honest, Ozil would know that his season last season was way below the level he should be,” Carter said.

“He has to either be moved on or he needs to step up next season and show he is a top player in Europe.

“You need some creativity in there, Ozil has to be moved on as he looks disinterested. At the moment, he is not showing that [he is interested].

“If I was the manager and got offered good money for him, then I would take it straight away.”
