Spider-Man Far From Home end credits scenes EXPLAINED: What do they mean for Spider-Man 3?

WARNING SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME AHEAD. The Avengers Endgame sequel featured a few big shocks along the way like Quentin Beck being revealed as a former Stark employee out for revenge. But come the two end credits scenes and the surprises just kept on coming. During the mid-credits scene, Spider-Man is in New York with his new girlfriend MJ before a news bulletin from The Daily Bugle.net pops up on a billboard screen.

And during this video, Mysterio reveals that Spider-Man is Peter Parker, much to the superhero’s shock in response.

Clearly, this will have serious implications for Spider-Man 3 (which will probably be released in Summer 2021) and will likely see Peter on the run and trying to clear his name.

We then turn to the post-credits scene which sees Nick Fury and Maria Hill driving along before they suddenly turn into Skrulls Talos and Soren, who were last seen in Captain Marvel.

The shock reveal means that the pair were disguised as Nick and Maria for the whole of Spider-Man Far From Home.

Talos then reports back to Nick Fury on the phone what had happened during the movie, with a scene switch revealing the real Nick to be lounging on a VR beach on Skrull ship in space. He then gets up and walks across the vessel before telling the aliens to get back to work.

Clearly, Nick is on holiday but this does pose a question of whether Talos and Soren have replaced Nick and Maria in previous MCU movies set between Captain Marvel’s mid-90s setting and Spider-Man Far From Home.

Fans of the comics will be aware that this move is similar to the Secret Invasion storyline where Skrulls disguised themselves as various Avengers, but in the MCU they’re friendly immigrants rather than invading villains.

At this stage, it’s not clear if this means more characters are or have been Skrulls, but perhaps there’s more of the Secret Invasion coming up in Marvel Phase 4.

Spider-Man Far From Home is out now.
