The Israeli airstrike hit the Mezzeh airbase in the capital city.
According to Syrian state news agency, SANA, the missiles were intercepted on the outskirts of the city.
The strikes were also intended for the Homs late on Sunday.
Despite the defence system intercepting some of the missiles launched at the capital, reports have stated that the number of Syrian military sites were hit.
Sunday night’s attack marks the fourth time that the Israeli air force has launched an offensive against Syria.
