Star Wars 9 NEW Carrie Fisher Leia scene in Rise of Skywalker is the PERFECT goodbye

Nobody wants to say goodbye to one of the most iconic figures in movie history, on screen or off. Gone but certainly never forgotten, she will always live on as the galaxy’s princess. Happily, Leia will have one last final and fitting outing in the franchise that made her not just famous, but beloved. Fans know by now that the character will be brought back with a mix of unused scens and, for the first time, reused scenes.

Daisy Ridley has been busy promoting her new movie Ophelia, a look at the classic Hamlet tale from the leading lady’s perspective. Unsurprisingly she has been asked constantly about the upcoming Star Wars film, too.

Ridley has decsribed one incredibly powerful scene with Rey and Leia hugging that was created from extra cuts of a scene from The Force Awakens.

It’s clearly an emotionals scene but it is Ridley’s revelation of the hilarious thing Fisher was secretly doing while they were filming that makes it so special.

It means fans can watch the emotional moment in the movie with tears but also laughter, remembering the sneaky joy Fisher injected into everything she did.

Part of the new scene as already been shown in the trailer, with the two characters embracing and a tear rolling down Rey’s face.

In a new interview with Vulture, Ridley admitted Fisher made it tough to stay seriosu while they were filming it.

The British star said: “She (Fisher)was actually whispering, ‘This is a f***ing long hug.’ [Laughs.] I was trying to do my acting, like, ‘Oh my god, Carrie!’ There wasn’t any discussion about what we were gonna do.”

Ridley admits that despite the fun memory, it is still hard to watch the new version of the scene.

Ridley said: “It was very sad. I found it very moving to watch it, because I do remember the original. And it’s a strange thing to do, for someone that’s not around anymore to be brought back to life. It’s eerie that it resonates so much with what the story is this time. It’s pretty amazing.”
