Pixel 3 deals are very tempting, but here's why you should wait for Google Pixel 4 instead

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were unwrapped by Google back in October last year and were certainly iterative improvements over their respective predecessors.

The two devices brought a number of long awaited features to the smartphone series – chief of these being the inclusion of wireless charging.

As has been the case with all previous Pixel products, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are renowned for their camera systems.

The two devices both tout three sensors in total – two on their front and one on their rear.

Pixel 3’s single 12.2-megapixel main sensor is arguably one of the best on a smartphone at the moment thanks to its intricate melding with Google’s masterful processing.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are currently being sold as part of tantalising offers from Three Mobile.

The UK network is selling both with unlimited data, minutes and texts on a two-year contract.

While that may sound fairly ordinary, Three is halving the price of the contract for the first six months.

This means for the first quarter of a Pixel 3 contract, customers will only pay £20.50 per month before each bill rises to £41.

An upfront charge of £29 is also required; in total, those that take advantage of the deal will save £123.

The larger Pixel 3 XL is subject to a similar offer but costs marginally more per month.

While the new offers from the UK network may seem incredibly appealing, they may be worth skipping.

That is because Google is expected to unveil its successor to the Pixel 3, dubbed the Pixel 4, in full later this year.

The firm has prematurely displayed the rear panel of the Pixel 4 on Twitter; the phone was shown with a new dual camera system on its rear housed in a square module.

While the function of the phone’s secondary lens is currently unknown, it appears the handset is braced to bring a noticeable photography improvement to the table.

Pixel 4 was also shown to have abandoned the phone’s signature two-tone design on its rear in favour of a single texture.

Google’s smartphone was also exhibited forgoing a physical fingerprint sensor on its rear, confirming its placement will be shifted this year.

Unfortunately, the front of the Pixel 4 was not shown; the hardware is anticipated to come with a new front design that reduces bezels when compared to its predecessor.

It is presumed Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset will power the Pixel 4 and should deliver a noticeable performance boost over the Pixel 3 that has suffered from issues in this regard since its release.

Since the outing from Google itself, IndiaShopps has suggested the Pixel 4 will come in a new “Mint Green” colour that will accompany more typical black and white options.

The outlet also displayed the claimed design of the phone’s front; the hardware was showcased with a small bezel at its top and minimal borders elsewhere.

Interestingly, it was declared the Pixel 4 will come with three cameras on its rear as opposed to the obvious two that can be seen in Google’s image.

Pixel 4 is anticipated to debut later this year; all previous Pixel handsets have been unwrapped in the month of October.
