Meghan Markle: The Queen plans ‘surprise’ 38th birthday party for the Duchess of Sussex

The past year has ben pretty big for Meghan Markle. Last May, the former actress married Prince Harry and became a member of the Royal Family. And this May, she gave birth to their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Now, Megan’s year is only about to get more exciting, as the Queen is said to be planning her a ‘surprise’ party for her 38th birthday this August. According to a source, the Queen is planing a special party in Meghan’s honour at her estate in Scotland for a few days. The mini break is also likely to be Archie’s first royal holiday, as he’ll be almost three months old.

“The Queen and Prince Philip adore the couple and, of course, their new great-grandson Archie, and they have invited them to Balmoral for a few days,” a source recently told The Sun.

“It is a testament to Meghan that she has been given this invite. It’s a huge honour.”

The Queen has reportedly asked the royal catering team to make Meghan a special cake to celebrate her big day, and it’s also been reported that that Sussex family will have their very own wing in Balmoral estate – which is rumoured to be the Queen’s favourite.

“It’s no secret Balmoral is Her Majesty’s favourite home, and that’s why this invite is so special and heartfelt,’ the source added.

The birthday celebration will be a nice treat for Meghan who is currently on maternity leave.

Although she made her return to the public eye at the Trooping the Colour earlier this month – where she joined her husband, as well as Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children – to mark the queen’s 93rd birthday, Meghan missed out on Royal Ascot this month.

Her absence came after months of reports the couple are feuding with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, leading fans to speculate the couples were still at war.

Since Meghan and Harry’s wedding last year May, it’s been reported that brothers Harry and William have been locked in a “royal feud” following an alleged fallout between their wives.

Last year, Meghan made her Ascot debut. She and Harry affectionately held hands and linked arms throughout the occasion, which took place only about a month after their royal wedding. Fans excpect the couple to put on a similar display this year.

However, a source pointed out Meghan’s absence could be due to the mum-of-one still being on maternity leave.

Duncan Larcombe told BAZAAR.com: “It is traditional for new royal mums to take a six-month break from official engagements.”

Explaining Meghan’s attendance at the Trooping Colour, another insider added: “You don’t skip the Queen’s birthday.”
