Texas Rangers third baseman Asdrubal Cabrera is back from a three-game suspension and is in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cabrera served the suspension for throwing equipment — batting gloves and shin guards — after he was ejected during the sixth inning of a game against the Cleveland Indians on June 20. The items hit the feet of umpire Bill Miller and Rangers manager Chris Woodward, who were discussing why Cabrera was ejected.

Cabrera was initially suspended for four games before Major League Baseball reduced it to three.

Cabrera, 33, is batting .231 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs.

Texas also claimed left-hander Jesse Biddle from the Seattle Mariners. The 27-year-old Biddle is 0-1 with a 7.54 ERA in 26 relief appearances for the Atlanta Braves and Mariners this season.

The Rangers transferred left-hander Jeffrey Springs (biceps) to the 60-day injured list to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Biddle. Springs, 26, is 4-1 with a 6.23 ERA in 20 appearances for Texas this season.
