China sends incendiary warning to Donald Trump’s America – ‘Those who resist will perish!’

Chinese defence ministry spokesperson Senior Colonel Ren Guoqiang savaged the US’ latest Indo-Pacific Strategy Report. The report accused China of trying “to reorder the region to its advantage by leveraging military modernization, influence operations, and predatory economics to coerce other nations”. According to Newsweek, he said that the ministry was “firmly opposed to its negative contents concerning China”.

He added: “No strategy should go against the times.

“The trend of the world is mighty and overwhelming. Those who follow it will prosper while those who resist will perish. Peace, development and win-win cooperation are the trends of our times.

“Any strategy that is closed and exclusive, which is against the general trends, is doomed to failure.”

He also claimed “no strategy should harm the well-being of people all over the world” or “underscore the confrontation side of relations”.

China and the US have been locked in feuds for months.

In the past, the nations have tried to improve military relations but little progress has been made.

During the past few months they have argued over trade.

Washington has attempted to stifle China’s growing economic influence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Trump placed numerous tariffs on China last May and since then billions of dollars have been lost in disputes between the countries.

On Wednesday, Trump said he planned to impose 10 percent tariffs on $325m worth of Chinese goods.

Following his comments, Chinese Foreign Minister spokesperson Geng Shaung told reporters that “US threats to impose additional tariffs will in no way intimidate the Chinese people”.

He added: “We do not believe in fallacy, nor are we afraid of pressure. Such tricks will never work on us.

“I would like to remind the US that waging a trade war and raising tariffs will hurt others as well as itself and can never solve any problem at all.”
